It is definitely one of the major discussions of our times: The use and applications of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) has become much more extensive and expanded and the improvement as well as the spread of access of Large Language Models (LLMs) in our everyday lives has been growing at an unprecedented speed with an even greater acceleration. Can AI actually help and can / should it be part of everything we do?
These days, not only we regularly hear that many individuals’ employment status and overall potential gets more and more compromised constantly due to the use of AI.
Without wanting to sound technophobic, because honestly we are not, as we very closely observe and constantly strive to understand all the many applications such tools are already having and can potentially have towards the improvement of our everyday lives and our world’s well-being and future, we feel that for the moment AI does not have a place in art production, may this be illustrations, sculpting, writing, graphic design or any other creative process and endeavor with which we daily occupy ourselves in our working lives in Archvillain Games.
That is the reason that we openly and sincerely state that:
Archvillain Games strongly stands against AI use in the creative and artistic process.
In this time and era, we wholeheartedly feel and publicly declare that we stand with artists and creative humans all around the world.
No AI is to be found or will be found in any of our projects, neither in the end products nor in their production pipelines. Our visual art and writing proudly remains 100% human-made.
Archvillain Games works with dozens of international, acclaimed and experienced artists, including concept artists, illustrators, 3D sculptors, writers, game designers, graphic designers, photographers, videographers and more, all of whom dedicate their precious time and inspiration towards a collective creative vision inside which we feel there is currently no place for any use of AI.
Art is the end product of human observation, thought, experience, memory, emotion and involves not only thousands of hours of practice but also many elements that AI lacks completely, all of which we refer to as “the human condition” and much more.
Without a doubt, we will be following all relevant developments in the use and stance towards AI, not only in our industry but everywhere, hoping to see a more egalitarian, humane and productive use of AI that can actually and effectively better the lives of more people around the world. But, at least for now, AI and art should not be found in the same place.
The Archvillain Games Team
